Lily took this shot of sister-in-law, Liesel, and brother, Paul Rehfisch, as she is about to sail at the port of Bremen.

Photo taken by Paul of Liesel, on the the dock at Bremen, shortly before the ship leaves with Lily for NY.

Photo of Paul taken by Liesel Weinlaub, on the dock at Bremen, January 1931. Paul Rehfisch and Liesel were bidding Lily Bon Voyage.

Meanwhile, Kurt waits for Lily to return. His company moved them back to NY City when they were forced to close his new L.A. office, after the Stock Market Crash of October, 1929.

The Weinlaubs circa 1931. The word was out that Gertrude was not happy with Lily for leaving Kurt to take her solo trip home, just after the company Kurt worked for moved them back to N.Y. City.

Publicity picture of the actress, Kaethe Horsten. She is also the 2nd wife of Siegfried Baruch, and mother of Eva Baruch.

This is the Oppenheimer Company, the Adolph Weinlaub luxury bedding factory, behind his house in Hannover. Gertrude has been urging Kurt to return to the family busness now that he no longer has a job in New York.

Lily and Kurt take a brief trip to visit friends in Schierke, in Saxony shortly after their return in 1932.

Since Kurt and Lily are not happy with life in Hannover, on Dec. 24, 1932, they move in with Uncle Siegfried and Aunt Kaethe in Berlin. Uncle S. sets Kurt up in a new business venture.
How wonderful that you have all these photos. I enjoyed wending my way through this part of the story.
